Being a driving instructor is a rewarding career and since the COVID lock downs, there are now more students looking for driving instructors than ever before so there has never been a better time to do your training of how to become a driving instructor in Winchester.
Being a driving instructor allows you to be your own boss, manage your hours and earn the wage you need whilst preparing pupils for their practical driving test in Winchester. Ahmed driving school in Winchester offers a complete package to get you fully trained and prepared for the three-part ADI examination so that you can comfortably pass and become a strong, independent, and highly skilled driving instructor to pass driving students on your own through ongoing lessons.
The process is not dissimilar to passing your own driving license at a driving school with the caveat of having to demonstrate advanced driving skills which our instructors will train you for so you can conduct your own lessons.
Our driving instructor training will prepare you to give both manual and automatic driving lessons giving you the freedom of teaching either. Learning to drive a manual transmission isn’t for everyone and with more people choosing automatic and electric cars rising in popularity it may be the case that being able to try a manual car is no longer necessary.
Nervous drivers also often prefer the ease of learning how to drive an automatic as there is no need to learn clutch control which is key to driving a manual car safely and therefore often feel safer after fewer lessons.
Becoming a driving instructor is a four tier process before you can teach driving lessons. The first tier involves online theory and hazard perception training using an online system. You will have access to our training videos so that you can study at your own pace in your own time. Like a driving test the first step is a theory test, although the test is more difficult than the standard driving test with 100 randomly generated questions and a fixed pass mark of 85.
Once this is completed you will study hazard analysis which is split into the following four sections:
Part two is 15 hours minimum of practical driving instructor training through driving lessons.
This part is very much like a standard driving test, just longer than a normal driving school test. You will have to demonstrate a high ability in driving skills, techniques, anticipation, and a high level of consideration for other road users to read the road. Therefore you will only be allowed to make six minor mistakes to get through.
Part three involves 40 hours of teaching training in Winchester including lesson plans and a teaching manual to ensure you are industry ready to become a driving instructor and ready to pass your pupils.
In this phase, you will be taught advanced driving techniques and instructor training. You will be given example lesson plans and advice on structured ways to plan your own driving lessons and create your own driving lessons once you’re a qualified driving instructor in Winchester.
Our driving school will ensure that you can communicate effectively with your driving students and give appropriate feedback to help them improve their driving ability.
Part four is optional for driving instructors but allows you to teach students driving lessons using a temporary license validating your car insurance for up to six months whilst you learn to pass part three. If you opt for this license we will include 20 hours of additional driving instructor training into your package helping you become a successful driving instructor teaching great lessons in Winchester quickly to prepare to get them through the test and pass the first time.
